• Birth in Zgharta on October 18, 1965
  • His father is Tony Sleiman Frangieh (19/1/1941 – 13/6/1978), the Martyr Deputy and Minister
  • His mother, Vera Kardahi (20/3/1945 – 13/6/1978), coming from a noble Egyptian family
  • His Grand Father, his Excellency, the former President of the Lebanese Republic, Sleiman Frangieh, from September 1970 to September 1976.
  • He has three children : Tony (1987), Bassel (1992) and Vera (2007)

  • He started early his political carrier in 1982 (at 17 years old) as a leader of Al Marada party that he transformed into institution that works on Political, Educational, Cultural, Health, Social Development, economical and environmental programs.
  • Al Marada was the first political party to surrender its weapons to the Lebanese Government in 1989 in respect to Taef Agreement that imposed the dissolution of all the armed political parties.
Parliamentary phase:

  • He entered the parliament for the first time in June 7, 1991. Thus he was the youngest deputy in the parliament.
  • Elected deputy in 1992 and reelected successively in 1996 and 2000, he was the most voted in the Caza of Zgharta – Zawyieh during the previous elections rounds.
  • Within the election round of June 2005, he was not elected although he got the majority of votes in the three combined cazas of Zgharta, Koura and Batroun gathering the highest number of votes in the History of parliamental elections in those cazas. This was due to the adoption of a discremaneryelectorial law known as “law of 2000”.
  • He was reelected as deputy for the Maronite Seat for Zgharta –ZawyiehCaza in 2009 following to the adoption of an electorial law based on the department of Caza in respect to the decisions of Doha agreement. The list that he headed with his allies, the deputies Salim Karam and EstephanDouaihi won all the available seats in the Caza.
  • Currently, he is the head of the parliamentary bloc Lebanon Free and United that includes the deputies: Karam, Douaihi and Emile Rahmeh.

  • Minister for eight times in several cabinets between 1990 and 2005
  • 24/12/1990 – 10/5/1992 : Minister of State in the Cabinet of the late prime minister Omar Karameh
  • 16/5/1992 – 30/10/1992 : Minister of Housing and Cooperatives in the Cabinet of Late prime minister Rashid Solh
  • 31/10/1992 – 25/5/1995 : Minister of Municipalities and Rural Affairs in the cabinet of the martyr prime minister Rafic Hariri
  • 7/11/1996 – 3/12/1998 : Minister of Public Health in the cabinet of the martyr prime minister Rafic Hariri
  • 4/12/1998 – 25/10/2000 : Minister of Agriculture and Housing in the Cabinet of prime minister Salim El Hoss
  • 26/10/2000 – 15/4/2003 : Minister of Public Health in the Cabinet of the martyr prime minister Rafic Hariri
  • 17/4/2003 – 26/10/2004 : Minister of Public Health in the Cabinet of the martyr prime minister Rafic Hariri
  • 26/10/2004 – 19/4/2005 : Minister of Internal Affairs and Municipalities in the Cabinet of late prime minister Omar Karameh
  • 11/6/2006 : he launched Al Marada Movement during an official and popular event in BesebeelZgharta.
  • 7/10/2009 : He launched Al Marada Academy in the spirit of enterprise and leadership. It was the first of its kind among Lebanese political parties.
  • 4/10/2014 : He launched Al Marada Media Academy under the supervision of experts
  • Currently, he is the President of Al Marada Movement and head of the parliamental bock Free and United Lebanon
